Dear Tutors,

You may refer to Chiu Chang's Appreciation Letter that I have advanced beyond Charity Tutoring Service into the following areas:

1) I help a Taiwan publisher, Chiu Chang Mathematics Education Foundation, to translate its mathematics book from Chinese to English so as to benefit students using English medium to learn mathematics. The project is meaningful because the book is meant for self-study and is free for downloading by any person anywhere in the world. You can download it by clicking at the chapter heading in Chiu Chang's announcement below.

2) I introduced the on-line book to all the beneficiary schools that I have been supporting with a note that students can email me any questions in reading the book, free of charge. Motivated by my drive, Chiu Chang also pledges to engage some volunteers to answer email questions from any reader worldwide.

3) I am teaching some adult prisoners (more than 10) at Stanley prison as part of the rehabilitation service. Whatever subject they need me, I shall teach them. Currently they are learning computer usage from me, and their progress is very fast.

4) I am regularly sending some mathematics exercises to a Deaf school for training its students. If students can do the exercises, I shall teach them some advanced topics at the Mathematics camp scheduled in July 2014. If not, I shall go through the exercises in July 2014. Since communication is more effective on a one-on-one basis for deaf students, assistant trainers are required to make the function a success.

You can also help as (1) a translator of mathematics book (2) an internet tutor answering email mathematics questions (3) on-stage trainer of prisoner rehabilitation service  (4) an assistant trainer at Mathematics camp.

九章數學基金會 : 初級中學數學自學教材(代數)---免費自由下載

又過了一學期，即將迎接農曆新年的到來，每位學生應當檢視一下自己的數學能力是否有所增進？ 財 團法人臺北市九章數學教育基金會為宣揚「數學是自己學來的而不是別人教來的」之理念，特別重新編寫了一套「初級中學數學自學教材」，目前已完成了代數部份 共16章。其中第1-4章適用於七年級上學期，5-8章適用於七年級下學期，9-12章適用於八年級上學期，13-16章適用於九年級下學期。 歡迎對想學好國中數學的大眾免費自由下載練習。(但補習班、家教班等作為營利使用者，請依使用人數每人捐助新台幣300元給本基金會作為會務費用，本基金會將開立捐贈證明)。 幾何部份正編排中，預定2014年3月底可掛網。 本教材英文版正由香港義工翻譯中，屆時可供英語系國家學生下載研習。 全套教材實體書本將由九章出版社預定於2014年5月底出版。 本教材前言處有詳細說明如何使用本自學教材，我們特別再提出一些建議： 1. 給國中學生的建議 無論您的數學成績如何，只要每天花費四小時的時間研讀本自學教材，我們保證在這個寒假過後就能讓您的數學能力脫胎換骨，成績突飛猛進。 這是一套數學概念俱細彌遺，鍛鍊數學基本功的好教材。您必須確實作到我們建議的方法與步驟，剛開始時您可能很不習慣，但假以時日，您的數學功力就在無形中日益精進。 由於本教材的例題、練習題都經過精心設計，知識的跨度非常小，完全可以自行研讀，不須要補習，也不用人教。您也可以邀集數位志同道合的好友一起研習，互相討論。 2. 給國中學生家長的建議 如果您的小孩在學校數學成績都在90分以上，則他不用補習了，只要研習本教材即可保持成績並使數學能力更加增進，有益於將來高中數學之學習。 如果您的小孩在校數學成績並不理想，甚至偶有不及格的情況，則送他去補習班也沒用，反而有可能學壞而誤入歧途。您只要嚴厲要求貴子弟自行確實研讀本教材，必可使他重新建立自信心而使數學成績足逐漸起色，甚至有可能成為班上佼佼者。 如果貴子弟邀集數位志同道合的好友一起研習與討論，您要協助安排時間與場地，規劃並檢驗其進度。 如果您的子弟數學真能有所進步，只要在校考試成績能達90分以上，我建議您應當將省下的補習費給貴子弟當作零用錢。 已經有太多的學生在我們的建議下，認真研習本教材並取得好成果，祝願您在新的一年數學能力也有一番新景象。 上冊 (七年級用) 第一章 有理數 第二章 整式的加減 第三章 一元一次方程 第四章 一元一次不等式 第五章 二元一次方程組 第六章 整式的乘除 第七章 因式分解 第八章 分式 下冊之一 (八年級用) 第九章 數的開方 第十章 二次根式 第十一章 一元二次方程 第十二章 指數 下冊之二 (九年級用) 第十三章 常用對數 第十四章 函數及其圖形 第十五章 解三角函數 第十六章 統計初步
